The New Jersey Time to Care Coalition is a statewide network of labor unions, advocacy groups, political allies, non-profits and research organizations that campaign for paid leave policies to help New Jersey’s workers meet both their obligations to their employers and the needs of their families. As our society copes with the widespread growth of two-income households, working mothers and single parent families of the last 40 years, it is critical to support workers as they balance family life and the demands of work. The Amplification Project has joined the Time to Care Coalition as we launch our Paid Family Leave Campaign. We are excited to be working with the Coalition to amplify the call for sound paid leave policies for New Jersey’s workers.
The Time To Care Coalition played a central role in getting legislation passed to create the Family Leave Insurance (FLI) program in New Jersey, which has benefitted over 80,000 workers and their families statewide since its implementation in 2008. While it is a victory for the Coalition to get New Jersey on the map as one of only two states with a statutory family leave policy, there is still much work to be done. Through producing original, engaging, and even entertaining digital media, the Amplification Project will bolster the Coalition’s efforts to advocate for improvements in New Jersey’s FLI program. In addition to producing media, the Amplification Project is assisting with strategy and campaign development, and will provide technical assistance to Coalition members engaging social media to further the Family Leave campaign goals.
The Time to Care Coalition launched a Story Bank project in partnership the national Family Values @ Work network, creating a natural synergy between both the Amplification Project and the Time to Care Coalition, as both groups are actively working to collect stories of New Jersey’s working families.
We welcome you to contact us if you would like to share your story with us. Please contact nicolec@amplificationproject.org if you can speak about one of the following topics:
